On Nov 7, 2023, the 20th SAPA Symposium was held at the House of Representatives Constitution Memorial Hall.Osamu Watanabe (Executive Chairman of Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., LTD.) gave a lecture titled "50 Years of the Oil Crisis''. Marking half a century since the first oil shock (1973), Mr. Osamu Watanabe spoke about his energy policies and experiences to date, and advocated for a shift in industrial policy in line with global trends. Furthermore, as future issues, he discussed the establishment of rules for international industrial policy, ensuring the safety of nuclear power as a public good, and responding to rapidly increasing demand for electricity, and he developed his personal theories that cannot be discussed publicly.
