Shigeru Toyama joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978. After working as a regional coordinator for the 1st Division of Mongolia, China, and as a director of the Security Countermeasures Office, he has served as Consul General of Qingdao, China in 2014 and Ambassador of Solomon in 2018.
